Botanical Garden
A Botanical Garden is established by the Department of Botany. It is situated on an area of 2 hector at the east, North West, south east side, of the College. Plants belonging to different groups like Pteridophyta, gymnosperms and Angiosperms are planted. A list of plant species in the catchment area starting by herbs, then shrubs, and at last angiospermic trees. A total of 146 species of flowering plants are documented in which 69 were herbs, 25 shrubs, and 52 angiospermic trees distributed in 52 families respectively.
There are six Dominant families in order of dominance are Fabaceae, Acanthaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Malvaceae Asteraceae, Caesalpinaceae. The trees include Tectona grandis, Polyalthia longifolia, Peltophorum pterocarpum (vogal) Wal. Delonix regia, Tamarindus indica, Dalbergia sissoo Roxb., Bauhinia recemosa etc. The gymnosperms like Cycas sp. and Araucaria sp. and Thuja are also planted.
Department Library
The departmental library has a collection of over 400 text books and reference books in Botany. UG, PG and Ph.D. theses of the students who have been awarded the respective degrees are also available for reference work.
Field Facility
The Department has facilities to carry out field experiments in the Botanical garden. Experimental plots and irrigation facility is available.
Computer and Internet Facility
The department has a well equipped computer and Internet facility for conducting practicals in statistics and bioinformatics. WIFI connectivity is available within the Department, which is accessed by most students.
Microphotography Facility
The Department has several stereo-zoom, bright field, phase contrast, LCD and fluorescence microscopes with imaging attachments which are available to research students and faculty.
Culture Facilities
The department has the facilities for aseptic manipulations, transfer and incubation to raise in vitro cultures of algae, bacteria, fungi and higher plants. These include laminar air flow cabinets, shakers, incubators.
