Introduction:

Though the college was established in 1958, the Department of Political Science started in 1967. The department started its full functioning from the same year. Political science is the central in the string of Social Science. It deals with all the major forces and pillars of a state (nations). Political Science interlinks all the Social Sciences as it is related to and studies economical, social,political,cultural,agricultural aspects of a nation. International relations are very important element in political science and it is a major issue of study in today’s world scenario.
The departmentteaches to the undergraduate level students.The department looks that the student should be prepared in political studies so that they can became very astute citizens required for strengthening the democracy of India. This department helps students to understand Panchayatraj system and Indian political system to make them aware of their duties and fundamental rights. The study of Political Science enables the students to become a part of different political parties and contribute to the democratic system of local bodies and the national political system. Political science studies all the four pillars of democracy called Legislations, Executive council, Judiciary and Newspapers.

The Department endeavors to produce students who are alert for political developments and aware a bout there political, economical, rights and duties to become the able citizens who can successfully shoulder the responsibility of our vibrant democracy.
